A Question on "Flash"
We have gotten a few specific questions on why we aren't using Flash for our web sites.
There are many reasons that we feel Flash may not be the answer for photographers trying to market with their web sites., not just show images.
1. Cost. Flash programming is expensive. And changes to the site can be costly and time consuming. While there are ways to use DB's with Flash, even those are not without significant cost.
2. Search Engines cannot find your site if it is a Flash site*. Search engines cannot read into the "movie" to extract relevant text and keywords. You can add Meta tags to the home page, but that isn't enough to really create a viable SE
strategy.
3. Flexibility. Our sites allow for instant content change. Announce a new client the day you land them, add an image to your portfolio the moment it is ready, put a photograph of you and the art director and the talent online before everyone
leaves the set.
That is the power of total control.
We enjoy Flash sites, even though we still have some concerns about 'bouncing text' and those lines that seem to constantly be moving around... but that's just us.
*If you choose to use Flash on your web site, it should be 'embedded' into a traditional page, with text and all meta content as well as text links that will take the visiting robot on to the next pages. |

What will I need to work with my Total Control Site?
The tool is very robust and we have designed the maximum amount of interactivity
and management into it. You will need a Windows OS (or MAC running OSX
and Mozilla or Firefox Browsers) to make all of the edits, uploads and
management choices in your site.
What special hosting requirements do I have?
Windows Server, SQL, ASP Mail and ASP Image. We offer hosting as well
at very competitive rates.
How many images can I load into my portfolios.
Unlimited
Can I have a totally creative design?
Yes. There are a few things to keep in mind, but in most cases we can
design whatever you want. Talks to us about what you want.
Will my site be Search Engine ready?
Yes, we are great believers in Search Engine Optimization and we build
your site to the best standards of Google and Lycos. You can even manage
your Meta Tags and Page names.
Are there any Templates that I can use to get up and running quickly?
Yes. We have several cool templates that we can modify for you quickly
and get you online fast. Some templates are *free and they run up to $750.
Free site are only available with the PHOTOtool Image Management System with a 2 year contract.
What if I want another page rather than, say, the client page?
No problem, we can add an additional page or change the name of any
of the existing pages to suit your needs.
What if I want to sell my images online?
We would direct you to our E-Commerce gallery solution, thePHOTOtool which interfaces very well with the Total Control Web site.
